Kurt and I have been waiting at the Antiguan Airport for about an hour now. No ride yet. While we have been waiting we cracked open a riveting game of yatzee. Kurt didn’t even remember what Yatzee was, however he was successful in whooping my butt! We set up my portable ipod speakers, Kurt is playing his music. I feel like I have been transported in time, back to 1999 (no rhyme intended). He has now found a wheelchair that he’s wheeling himself in. This is what happens after 10+ hours of flight travel, layovers, and a lack of a timely pick up. Many Antiguan taxi drivers have offered to give us rides, obviously not for free though. So we continue to wait.
Not long after pulling out my computer, I clued in that I had wireless internet. Finally, a connection to the real world again! Checked facebook, email, and then straight to the Detroit/ San Jose game. Kinda random, sitting on the curb at the Antiguan airport, our luggage strewn all about and we’re crowed around this tiny computer playing the hockey game. At least it is some form of entertainment.
At this point, we’ve been waiting nearly 2 hour and no sign of anyone we know. We were told we’d be picked up, someone would be waiting for us – I’m sure they are on their way, maybe they got lost?
I am getting really excited, despite the delay. Although this will be a very long trip, I know that I am going to learn SO much. I’ll keep you posted!
Luv Jen
